Scarborough's Youth Bridge to Employment

SYBE

The Northpine Foundation investment in Scarborough Youth Bridge to Employment aims to help build a pipeline for employers to hire and retain local youth talent.

Scarborough’s youth, though capable and motivated, often lack the networks, structure, and follow-through needed to get into jobs and stay in them. Scarborough Youth Bridge to Employment (SYBE), a program by The Scarborough Business Association (SBA), tackles that gap with a 10-week in-person bootcamp followed by a 4-week co-op placement, building work habits, verified Canadian experience, and employer-trusted referrals.

This model is designed around retention, not just placement, with trial week screens for commitment, and transit support and daily coaching for participants.

The Northpine Foundation investment in this program aims to help SBA build and prove a pipeline for employers and local youth, tapping into underused talent to build work readiness, stronger employer confidence, and better long-term employment outcomes in Scarborough.
